I have a Panasonic G20 and have recently bought a D-sub cable to connect my pc to my tv. It half works in that I get the pc image up on the tv and sound works fine, but the top of the picture is all skewed and distorted and I have tried everything I know to try and resolve it but still can't get it working.

Anybody got any ideas please?

It would be yes, what resolution have you set your computer to? Have a look in the manual for your TV as not all TV's support the full resolution of the set over VGA.

But they would with HDMI?

I have scoured the manual for something that might help and have tried changing almost every setting. Somehow I think you may be onto a winner with the DVI-HDMI cable.

There may be no need to purchase a DVI-HDMI cable just yet. What resolution do you have your PC set to when outputting to the G20?

EDIT: OK After having a quick dig around it seems that the TV can only accept 1366x768 over D-SUB (VGA) it will accept 1080p over HDMI though.

Yeah, the nearest res to that I can get to is 1360 x 768. Could this be the problem and does that mean that I won't have this issue with HDMI?

It could certainly be the problem, try selecting that res on your PC to confirm. If your PC has a DVI output then you can use DVI-HDMI and you won't have this issue.

My pc will only allow 1360x768 not 1366x768, only a handful of pixels out, but it distorts/warps the top of the picture.

Pc does have a DVI output from a ATI4870x2 so I guess ill get a hdmi cable, assuming it transmits sound and everything else onto my tv with no picture warping.

Yes it will transmit sound if you use the supplied adapter.

EDIT: I'd be intrested to see this distortion of you could get a picture.

I can try and describe it to you, distortion is probably not the right word, its more of a warping at the very top of the screen, sort of twists the picture at the top, while the lower 95% of the picture is as it should be. Its as if all it needs is to adjust the skew settings you used to be able to get on old monitors or press an autoadjust button, but you cant.

I understand what you mean, seems like a poor job on the TV's part. You won't have that issue with HDMI I'm sure of that.

Does your laptop have a Display Port out ? cos you can get a display port male to HDMI female adapter for next to nothing (if you already have a spare HDMI cable knocking around) may save you a few quid.
