Hi All

I'm normally good at tracking down and finding any issues with my PC's, but this one is doing my head in!

The PC in question is my Son's gaming PC:
Asus Z87-K mobo, i5 stock (approx 5/6 yrs old)
Seagate 650w PSU (approx 3 yrs old)
GTX 970
Acer XB241H G-Sync Monitor & LG 25UM58-P Ultra Wide

For the last month, my Son has been complaining about the Acer XB241H monitor going blank for a second, and then the DP input GUI shows while playing Fortnite and PUBG. R6 Siege, Arma3 or any Windows tasks all ok. Everything had been ok since Christmas when I brought him the Acer monitor. I thought it could be either a faulty monitor or driver issue and updated to the latest Nvidia drivers inc clean install. This never fixed the issue. So next I tried changing from DP to HDMI, no luck. Next was to swap out the GTX970 for another one in my daughter's PC (I used to have them in SLI in my PC), still the same! So, it must be the monitor, but now the blank 'flashing' is getting worse, here is a video of it happening:

But, before I went to start a RMA, I decided to try the monitor on my PC using DP connected to my GTX1080Ti and it works flawlessly!!? We tried Fortnite and R6 Siege using my PC with no issues...

Pointless creating a RMA as the monitor works fine on my PC, could it be a Windows 10 issue? I formatted his SSD and clean installed Win10, used original ASUS mobo drivers and Nvidia's latest driver. Lastly, installed Fortnite and the 'blank flashing' is still there, but not as frequent as in the video.

So, totally confused on why this is happening, my next thought is a PSU issue as it only happens when the PC is being used for gaming? First thanks for reading this, and has anyone had this bizarre issue before? What's your advice for me to try next!?

Thanks....

Hi,

As a Computer tech - my initial thought is the Power supply; it would seem that the Monitor is losing power/signal (via the GPU) - also this is cheaper than replacing the GPU.

You could just swap your PSU and see if the fault disappears

Hope this helps
