Hi,

I need a new CPU Cooler. I was using a Tuniq tower 120 silent cooler and I liked it, but its not so silent now after two years of near 24/7 use. I would have bought another one of those but OC don't have them now, and they don't seem to have any decent Tuniq ones.

I don't want a watercooling solution ( to complicated for me to fit) But I would like one that spits out as little noise as possible.

The range of coolers is just overwhelming, I simply don't know where to start.

Can anyone suggest something decent. Not massively expensive but not cheap n nasty either.

Thanks for any advice

Hi,

Its mildly dusty, but not to bad actually. I wasnt aware the fan could be removed/replaced. I just tried that and cant get the fan to come off. Software wise Im ok, hardware Im a total amateur. But still, the thing does look Ok and I thought it would be a shame to throw it away...precious metals n all that :)

For now I have slotted in the stock intel that came with the CPU but it does spit out less noise than the Tuniq was. But I also know the Tuniq was much quieter that the stock Intel one when it was running optimum.

I have an Intel core 2 quad Q6600

I was thinking about going for a
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B CPU Cooler (Socket 775/1156/1366)

I will keep the tuniq and look in to getting a new fan for it (if this is possible) an dkeep it for a second PC I may build up. But Im looking to order some PC bits asap as theres some other maintenance stuff I need to buy such as a new Graphics card and case fan. I might as well get all the bits at the same time. Im no good at all with repairing hardware, changing fans etc. Yes, Im a total amateur

Edit:
On looking at it again there is actually more dust than I thought. On the cooler vents theres quite a bit. But again I just cant seem to work out how the fan would be removed. Its not a regular philips screwdriver type deal. Do I just pull the thing off?
