Asus Maximus Gene V and Corsair Dominator RAM (two sticks).

Case 650d.

I've had a look and things look tight near the GPU and RAM. Depth of cooler should not be a problem, as case is pretty deep.

Particulary interested in the views of anyone with similar set up.

Budget? £60 tops.

Cheers.

If height isn't a problem but you don't want the cooler to encroach too far in the other dimensions, the Noctua NH-U14S might be a good bet. Not too far off the NH-D14 in performance, but quieter and less massive.

To give you an idea of what will work on that board.

I have a prolimatech megahalems with 2 fans at 25mm each
Heatsink Dimensions: (L)130mm X (W)74mmX (H)158.7mm

so total width is 124mm with about 2mm from the ram stick.

The cooler also blocks the first ram slot off but the fan can be raised to allow for low profile ram to fit. I use patriot viper venom

The gpu clearance is acceptable with this setup between the heatsink and gpu pcb but the fan clips come close but the way the fan attaches is different with each cooler so be aware that some may foul.

I know another person on here uses a K2 with the Gene, OCUK even supply the gene with a K2 cooler in one of their bundles.

Some pics for you.

Thanks Something else:

Just to clarify, does the Magahalems come with fans, or do i need to by those separately?

Do you know if the guy you mentioned (K2) had similar RAM to mine?

The megahalems requires fans so it makes the cost of it quite expensive.

A closed loop cooler might be an option if you like them, not my cup of tea tbh.

not sure what ram he had. I will try and see.

Cant find it sorry.

large ram on the gene will work with a k2 all you would have to do is move the front fan to the back

Yes, I did like the look of the blue one too, but extra money on fans is a bit steep for me. Thanks.

Someone just suggested a closed loop. I'll look into that.
