Hi all

not sure how long this has been going on for now but every time I try to do the most basic task using a web browser my pc just goes nuts. CPU jumps to the max when showing a blank tab.

I used to use chrome until I found out the may update for windows broke their compatibility so I removed it and moved to firefox. it worked fine for a day or so and then it's back to going nuts every time I try to use the browser.

I've resorted to testing out edge to see if the same thing happens and it actually works just fine as far as I can tell.

has anyone had this issue? any ideas on a fix?

Cheers,

Soogs

OK so i've done a clean install and done a registry clean and they seem to be working fine again... not sure if it'll break again.. please delete this thread

It sounds to me like it was some sort of cryptocurrency miner that hijacks browsers.

Did you check task manager to see what was causing the issue ?

I know you've done a clean install .

so i think "system" and the browser in use were the main processes going crazy.
it's weird as its been happening on and off now for the last couple of days.

is there any way a faulty network switch could cause this issue?

how can i check for that crypto mining? ive run virus scans with avast and scanned with malwarebytes. they have both found stuff and been removed/quarantined but i cant remember the details.
