Hi Folks,

I am looking for some help creating a vector graphic using the pen tool in Photoshop. I was following this tutorial http://www.garysimon.net/logotutorial/ and trying to follow the vector tracing step. I have found the image below and thought i would be able to get the same effect using the pen tool. I have given it a go but the results have been pretty poor so far :(

Was wondering if any of you guys could give it a go?

Thats a very complex image to trace depending on how much detail you go into. I don't see why you cant get the shape of the bird and some shading layers on there though..

What exactly are you struggling with?

Well when i trace round the bird (I haven't done the whole thing yet) i can't seem to get smooth curves. The wing tips are all faded into one another so its hard to get a defined line of where to trace, so when I look at the finished result its not clean enough. I think I need much nore experience with the pen tool!

Indeed, what you are struggling with is your interpretation of the wing. But that isnt a problem, this is the point where you are learning... experiment with the tool more... continue tracing... find out what looks good and what doesnt by doing.
