Hi all, I'm in the middle of my first water cooled build, ordered an Alphacool VPP655 (D5 vario) and have been sent a VPP655T.
The difference with this pump is it has a tacho cable on a 3 pin fan header - and I have no idea what its for

My guess would be I attach this to one of the motherboard headers - then tell the bios "something" - then it monitors the pump?

If someone could explain to me what this wire does and what to do with it I'd really appreciate it

Cheers

I attached my tacho wire from my pump to the cpu fan header, that way the bios will see you have some kind of cooling and won't go all crazy on you when you switch on.

the taco wire goes to a fan header on motherboard, you can then in the bios set an alarm for the header you have put the pump on to warn or even shut the pc down if the pump stops working

Thanks for that. I was thinking about adding a flow monitor to the loop for the same purpose.

Guess I can forget that now :)

Yeah no need, check out your BIOS option for the cpu fan header, there will be an alarm or shutdown or something
