Help deciding needed!

Decision time is here!
My budget allows either:-
Asrock conroexfire sata2 motherboard and E6600 processor or
DS4 motherboard and E6400 processor

I have never overclocked and don`t have a budget for extra coolers!

Which combo would be best in your opion!

get a DS3 + e6300 OEM + Tuniq tower 120 cooler and get into overclocking dude!

if your not going to overclock at all i'd go with the e6600 & asrock

Why DS4 over DS3? Not doubting you just personally interested.

Firewire perhaps? Both the ASRock and the Gigabyte DS4 have firewire.

An E6600 overclocked to 2.7GHz (the best you'll get out of the ASRock) should outperform an E6400 clocked to 3GHz because of the cache. And it will run cooler and theoretically quieter. There is also no guarantee the E6400 will clock that far. OK, it will almost certainly clock that far, but it's not guaranteed.

If, in the future, you decide to get into overclocking then 3.3-3.6GHz is much easier with the E6600 than the E6400.

So, I'm going to recommend the ASRock/E6600 route.
