I currently have an Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA mobo, which i'm running my old Corsair XMS PC3200 (2x 1Gig) DDR in.

I'd like to upgrade the RAM in my 6yo son's pc for his birthday. He currently run's Geil Value 2x256 PC3200 DDR.

Looking at the price of PC3200 DDR 2Gig kits, it seems cheaper (£30-40 cheaper!) for me to buy 2Gig (2x1Gig) of PC5300 DDRII for mine & let him have my Corsair?

I was wondering if there was anything that i've overlooked before i purchasing please?

Any suggestions greatly appriciated.

Cheers
Scott

Which 5300 have you been looking at might i ask?

DDR has gone much the same way as SDRAM in that it is being phased out and DDR2 is much the rage nowadays, is ridiculously cheap for what u can get.

What you have suggested looks pretty good though.

if this is within your budget then go for it, as can run much higher speeds if needs be, otherwise some of the cheaper corsair or OCZ stuff should be fine.
