Title says it all :(

Just delidded my 3570k.... used a razor, as no vices were to be had. Thought I was pretty careful, tho there were one or two nicks on the pcb. Everything back in, and computer goes thru an endless reboot cycle now. Nothing comes up on the monitor. Just switches on and fans spin up for a few seconds, and then reboots... Could I have killed my processor somehow?

Thanks guys. Will give that all a go tmrw. TIM is thermal grizzly on die and on IHS, so shouldn't be an issue. Yeah, think I've got an old pc speaker somewhere now you mention it - hopefully some beep codes will give me a clue.

I killed my 3570k a while ago using the razor blade method.

Similar behaviour to you. Pressed button, fans came on, that's it. (edit, mine didn't reboot though, fans just spun forever with nothing else happening)

If you can see copper in the "few nicks", then its pretty much game over.

On the plus side, I'm really enjoying my 4790k lol.

Er yeah.. just found a rather deep nick with copper brightly peering out. Oh ****. Wasn't budgeting on anything new right now. My bad  Over to the bay for a replacement...
