Help diagnosing a reboot crash while gaming.

Hey all

So I'm getting random reboot crashes while gaming, system is


ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
2 x 16gb Vengeance 6400mhz (CMK32GX5M2B6400C36)
4090 FE
Crucial T700 1TB PCIe Gen5 M.2 (CT1000T700SSD5)
Seasonic TX-750
Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100

I'm going to check bios now and update if needed.
I'm also looking at a new PSU, as the 750 was from my old system.

Thanks for any help or tips on sorting it.

Totally agree mate, i got a Be Quiet 1600 when i got the 4090, but it exploded on the 1st day .... so they replaced it and that did the same (tripped my circuit breaker at the mains as well)
After that i just went back to my old SS 750, which works fine (But possibly the issue I'm having now)

I have just flashed my bios which was very old, and I'm looking at a new PSU now, so i guess i will report back in a few days if the crashes persist after a new PSU.
 
Agree with what @Zeebedy has suggested. I just tried to use a website where you can pick parts and it gives estimated wattage at 733W for the above parts together.

Would look at trying to purchase a new PSU if you can.
 
There are lots of tutorials on youtube on how to do this. I think some of them use MSI Afterburner.

Are you running your RAM at the listed specs? Try disabling expo, and run memtest with it on. 6400 is a little quick for a 7800X3D and could be acting up.

Also try limiting your 4090 to 450w.

Ok, so auto was setting Dram at 4800.
Couldn't see expo setting in there? Any idea where abouts it is in the bios?
Will memtest asap.
 
While Seasonic make great power supplies, the Titanium units had big issues with transient power spikes with the 3000 series of cards. The 4090 is a hefty boi with power consumption too. Either way even if it isn't the reason this is happening, you should probably look to replace it over time.
 
Do you have automatically restart disabled in System->Advanced->Start-up and Recovery? (the crash details should still show in Event Viewer if the restart isn't instantaneous).

There have been some issues with the recent nVidia drivers and HDR, usually at 4K with the nVidia App overlay enabled, which can cause a restart.
 
Have you done any tinkering with PBO or CO in the bios?

I had my PC running fine with a 9800X3D for a good few months and then suddenly Helldivers 2 started crashing after its last update.

In the end I disabled PBO and CO. I have not had a single crash since so might be worth looking at PBO if you have this enabled.

Yep, got a new 1600w coming tomorrow, so that should help ;)

I can't see that option in my W11, but i know i wouldn't have disabled it, i did wonder about checking event viewer but may not know how to go about that?
I will maybe disable the NV overlay though.

After doing the bios update recently i haven't tinkered with much at all, so they will probably be on default settings.

Thanks for all the ideas and help though guys, i ran Memtest86 today and memory passed fine, so lets see what happens with a new PSU tomorrow.

Enter "advanced system" in the Windows search bar or start menu search and select "View advanced system settings", then on that window select the "Settings..." button under "Start-up and Recovery" and in the window which appears about half way down untick "Automatically restart" and OK. The system should then show a BSOD with info on why it crashed when it crashes rather than instantly reboot - unless the cause is the PSU being overloaded forcing a hard reset.
