Hi guys,

I need some help with overclocking my CPU, i'm a beginner.

My Specs:

E5300 2.6Ghz
Gigabyte G31-ES2L
HD 4870 512MB
2x 2GB DDR 2 Kingston 1066Mhz

I have installed a CPU Cooler (Arctic Cooler Pro 7 Rev2.)

I have overclocked my CPU to 3.1 Ghz ( 13 x 240 ) that's all I did, I haven't changed voltages or anything and it runs stable but I want to get 3.6Ghz or 3.8Ghz if possible.

I have tried many times even with increasing the voltages in BIOS and everytime I hit SAVE & QUIT I get beep beep sound and it restarts and a computer starts with default settings (2.6Ghz).

What's going on? How can I overclock it to 3.6Ghz, I know that it's possible because other are doing it. Please be specific about how to get 3.6Ghz and what to do.

This is what i'm trying to get:

A little basics when overclocking your cpu, it will also overclock your ram and your pci express as well as the cpu.

So You need to set the pci express frequency to 100.

You need to drop your ram frequency to 1066 or below.

You no your system can handle 3.1ghz so increase a little at a time and check isf it stable , if not try adding more cpu voltage .

Run test to check stability and temps.

Here is a guide but its for an asus board but basically the princeples are the same

Hey man, thanks for your advice. I put pci express frequency as you told me to 100 and dropped the memory frequency to less than 1066 and it worked :)

I did it on 3.6Ghz, ran prime95 software to test and it was perfect 0 errors, then i overclocked it to 3.8Ghz and again 0 errors. Thanks a lot mate.
