Well, my comp was running fine for a few hours this morning until everything went like a chessboard. It basically cut the screen up and shuffled it all around in a chessboard pattern??

I dumped the power straight away in a state of panic and when i turned it back on all was fine.

Now, fast forward another hour, and it does it again. Again i dump the power, but this time when i turn it on, whatevers on the scree (inc. splash screen and BIOS) are a complete mess. All chopped up random colourful lines ect.

Ive reset BIOS and Reseated my graphics card and checked everything is plugged in right. Still no luck :(

Its an old rig so i dont know the exact spec but....
Specs:
P4 2.8
Asus p48r400 (Or something like that :s)
512mb geil value pc3200
x1950pro AGP

Anything else you need to know?

If anyone knows whats going on, itd be GREAT!

I havnt turned it on for a good hour or so now, might go and try again soon and see if its sorted :s

The machine is quite dusty but the temps are never really hot as thecpu isnt clocked, i dont check the temps its just when i open the case when its on (dunno why i do this, i like looking at it all :D) the air is just as cool as it is in my room.

Thanks a lot,

Dan

Im gunna get a can of compressed air today and blow those dut bunnies away :D

Any other tips on getting rid o the copious amounts of dust in my case?

If thats the saphirre x1950 pro then you can unscrew the plastic bit that covers the heatsink and then be able to get at most of the dust. I used a small paintbrush (not used :p ) to get rid of all the dust. Make sure the bristles are soft though.

its either heat as advised

psu going south (if you have another pc you can try with then do)

gfx card going south (rma time)

or i remember eharing once about the drive electrics in a tft going funny, try swapping to dvi from d-sub or vice versa. or using another screen to confirm.

Tested the card in another machine and it did the same so sent a message to Sapphire about RMA :(

Just as i was about to seel machine to finance new build as well, thorouly peeved!
