So I'm building a new rig, 7800x3d on an amd board and apart from reading "6000mhz at CL30 is the sweet spot' for that CPU, what do all the other numbers mean? CL and the other double digits.
And what's the main bit to look for? Only ever used to overclock a little but really want to go to town with tinkering with everything I can on this new system.

For more detailed information than you'll ever want, I suggest buildzoid's channel:

For the X3D? From Hardware Unboxed's results I'd say anything 5600 C36 and up is fine, they just don't seem to care much about memory speed, compared to the non-X3D CPUs.

Thanks I'll take a look when I'm not sleepy on my commute. So the 7800x3d is more user/noob friendly regarding memory timings?

I don't know if they overclock easier, I'm referring to their performance. I think the 5800X3D was the same way, probably because their massive cache lessens the need for fast ram access.
