Hi all any help app

i have a few years old dell 2407 been an outstanding screen
left it on tonight went out came back
power light and normal number 2 light on but nothing on the screen did the usual of and on
power down comp nothing changed screens and the other works fine

any ideas

also if its done for do dell repair is it expensive

Have you tried all the inputs?

If no luck with that then I would get in contact with dell ASAP. How long has it been since you bought it and do you have the original box or know the "Dell Works Order Number"?

im still tying to find some wires if its all over would anyone have an idea of a replacement screen same size for not a huge amount

or are dell ok for repair ie price

or is this as good or better

Ah, that's a shame - the warranty is for 3 years, so you are a few months out of it :(

I have no idea how much Dell would charge for a repair - but it would be well worth calling them up to ask.

For a comparable monitor (24in, 1920x1200, non-TN panel) you will be looking to pay ~£340 (HP ZR24w). However, if you are willing to drop the res to 1920x1080 and size to 23in then the Dell U2311H is great. Alternatively, there are loads of 24in, 1920x1080, TN panel monitors for less than £200 - however the image quality is not up to the standard of your S-PVA panel 2407.

thanks for that i really want the 1900x1200 res

kinda got used to it
but not sure on HP stuff

think ill call dell tommorrow after doing some more checks

thing is it was made in feb 2007 with a bit of luck i might not have bought it till after lol

thanks for your help

these the equal or better than my screen

remember years ago Iiyama used to be right up there

I'm sorry to hear that your 2407WFP has broken. This issue seems to affect quite a few 2407WFP monitors.

There might be a chance that it's repairable, although you would need to do the repair yourself. It may be that a fuse has gone, or it may be that the whole inverter board is broken.

A couple of the replies on the second page of this thread might help you:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/18214807.aspx

I hope you can fix it as the 2407WFP is a great monitor, and I think it's worth trying to repair. I hope this doesn't ever happen to mine.

Edit: The 2407WFP is better than the Iiyama ProLite E2607WS as the Dell is PVA, whereas the Iliyama is TN. Although if you don't mind that, the E2607WS could be a good replacement. It has a 2ms response time, which is faster than the 2407WFP's.

yes its exactly like the other symptoms stated

looks like im goosed

only chance ive got is it might be a 5 year warrenty doubt it

could you recommend a new screen

mostly for gaming

actually for the price this doesnt look too bad

However, if you are willing to drop the res to 1920x1080 and size to 23in then the Dell U2311H is great
