Help fast spec photo edit/game machine

As title, I want a pc to play eve online and supreme commander 2 amongst other games on multi monitor setup, also wife is pro photographer working with photoshop, so need a machine that flys when photo editing.

Options are

Intel Core i7 or i5
AMD Piledriver will amd do the job as good as i7?

What's best graphics to have ati or Nvidia?

Want a ssd for the OS, large storage drives for data in raid 5 / 10 so prob 3x wd 2tb green

And which OS win 7 or 8?

Budget around 1500

Thinking a dell 2713hm monitor and add another later

but the wife wants a screen equivalent to the 27" imac screen in quality and resolution, and the tftcentral review for the dell ultrasharp 2713h is no good for gaming and has lots of quality issues according to posts on here.
I spent a whole weekend looking at reviews and the like and the best monitors where the 2317 if you get a good one lol or the 970d samsung but the price for that is stupid high.

ANy thoughts on the processors? Amd or i5 or i7? Will they all cope if so I might try the piledriver.
I have 2x 460's will they be ok or upgrade?

its a shame I cant see the members market as I hear that the dell 2711 goes for £100ish on there, it would be an ideal starter point.

How would people rate my current setup in my sig?
The motherboard i find is rubbish and no good at overclocking, but all motherboards for the 1366 are no longer for sale as far as I can see, I would love a gigabyte ud3r ver 2 or better really as they seem to be great.
Hence the reason for trying to upgrade on a tight budget.

I would love to change some things on a smaller budget, say parts from others who will be upgrading (so long as they are in good condition) lol

I have read some of the reviews and haveread that the ASUS monitors use PMW backlight dimming, I would prefer monitors without this so to reduce headaches
