Some yobbo getting bored of sitting in traffic, sped into the hard shoulder and hit my wing mirror and the only thing broken seems to be the glass itself.

Can anyone point me to the best place to buy the heated passenger side wing mirror glass with auto-dim?

I can find one without auto-time for £28, but would prefer auto-dim depending on price..

Car is an f13 LCI 640d M-Sport

Yes but they want £400, not willing to pay that.

Unless you want a second hand one you are not going to get that part for much less as BMW control the supply. Some of the dealers offer a discount to members of some of the BMW forums, but this will be 15% at most.

Your only real alternative is a cheaper non BMW part.

Happy to go for a non BMW part, but the problem is none of the resellers actually know whether their non official part has auto dim or not.

It's an LCI 640d? Crikey it's at least a 30 grand car, just fit the right part!

I wouldn't trust anything but the genuine part as they are electro chromatic auto dimming on this model.

Guess I will just have to fork up for it. Just a pain in the arse for a £390 BMW electro chromatic auto dimming one.

Live by the blue and white badge, die by it.

I have the same problem atm on the 3 series, only this time its the whole assembly and i'm not holding out hope of it being cheap even with second hand parts :(

Or you could get the Magneti Marelli mirrors, which are identical to the BMW ones as they make them for BMW. As you can see, they etch off the BMW logo on the Magneti Marelli parts, and sell them for 60% less than BMW - for the exact same part.

Magenti Marelli mirror - £150 - Note the positions of the sticker residue on the left, and in the top right corner, just right of the connector, where the BMW logo is meant to be is has been etched off. Also note the word GENTEX at the bottom, and "RC" to the left.

Genuine BMW - £400 - Oh look, it's the exact same thing with a sticker and a BMW logo.

This was the same when I bought side indicator repeaters for my car - they were identical and you could see where they had tried to etch off the BMW logo. (BMW on the right, Magneti Marelli on the left)

Andddd when I bought new headlight lenses for my car.

Was going to go for a Magneti Marelli mirror, but it would take 2 + weeks minimum in best case scenario or in some 4+ weeks to arrive. I'm always on the road and doing upto 1k miles a week and can't afford that long without a mirror. BMW are same day for the part.

You can get the Magneti one from Amazon via Prime and have it here tomorrow. £201

EDIT: Ha, they've just reduced it since I looked like an hour ago. It's now £164 with delivery tomorrow.

EDIT 2: Oh, that's the RH one. The left one is £201 and temporarily out of stock. As you were!

I know, all the car parts dealers I contacted last night said the right hand one isn't the problem, just the left which I need :(

Just a pain in the arse I have to suffer £400 loss because some yobbo couldn't be arsed to wait. The glass is probably worth more than his car...

Have you tried going through bmwforums.info (http://www.bmwforums.info/harry-fairbairn-bmw/)?

The dealer site sponsor does some very good prices and normally does next day del for free.

I would go with the Magneti ones I think instead of the Latvian ones :p

The Magneti ones are the Latvian ones.....:)

I had the same issue for the M5 in September. Bought the MM one for the drivers side as BMW wanted £415. In fact, I was tempted to buy a complete M5 Mirror from ebay as that was only £400....
