I'm sure this thread title has been used to death by now but...

Currently using a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 set and the mouse wheel has just started to go. I have really liked the set as for me they are comfy to use (my main priority). This is the second copy of the set I've gone through now, mouse wheel went on first set too! The mouse wheel seems to have only last around 30 months each time.

Rather than replacing the complete set for a copy (£45ish) I wanted to look at maybe just replacing the broken mouse with something a bit better. I know nothing about gaming mice and without testing all of them in a shop I doubt I'd find the right type for me.

Looking for:
  • Something suited to small-medium hands
  • Palm grip
  • I don't like really light/heavy mice, something in between
  • No preference between wireless or wired
  • I prefer optical mice, find them more predictable.
  • For both gaming (RTS/FPS) and graphic design work.
  • Spending around £50 at the top end (much more and I'd rather just buy the replacement set for £45)

Last time I was buying a mouse other than a Microsoft set it was the razor mamba (original pre 2012 edition) which I had nothing but trouble with! So I'm posting this to just test the water after my bad experience last time :)

Dimensions of current mouse if it helps: L117mm x W70mm x H41mm

Thanks in advance!

A few to look at:
Zowie - EC / FK series
Logitech - G402/G502
Steelseries - Rival

Because it's so subjective it's difficult to recommend, they're a few i've been looking at though. Could try ordering from somewhere with good returns then you can return any you don't get on with =]
