help, first time overclocking!!!

hi, i hope someone can help out here, i got a AMD spermon 2.70ghz processor and a gigabyte ma74gmt-s2 mobo,

im trying to unlock the second core which i have done but when the pc restarts its stuck on bios screen. the keyboard wont work or anything, the whole system just freezes up.

on the bios screen its says athlon x2 4400 but i cant get in the operating system,

anyone have any ideas i would be very thankful!!

Reset the CMOS by shorting the pins on the motherboard or removing the battery for 10 mins with the power off.

It be the case your Sempron has a faulty core.

hi thanks for the reply, so i reset the cmos and now atleast i can access the OS

if it does have a faulty core then atleast i can try overclocking the ghz on single, still not as fun as unlocking that second core

the mobo has acc and hybrid mode so i really dont see the problem here, apart from maybe a faulty core as you have suggested.
