my desktop died wont boot properly into windows, thought was due to loose gfx connection which i removed cleaned and put back in.

then 1 ram module failed or came loose, i just took it out.

now windows fails to boot, says insert disk to fix. which i do

but all my HDDs are SATA which XP doesnt recognise, i borrow a floppy disk drive from work which i cant get working

its connected, power on, recognised in BIOS. but the orange light stays on all the time.

I changed the direction of the connection cable to check if i put it in the wrong way round. followed the red line on the connection cable to the floppy disk drive so i know its orientated properly

so either the floppy drive is screwed or my mobo is knackered as well which may have been the source of my original problem

any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

winXP pro sp2

AMD barton 2500
1gb ram
DFI Lanparty ultra B
Nvidia gfx card forgot model
2 x seagate HDD (250GB) SATA
1 x samsung HDD (80GB) SATA
Liteon DVD writer

I am trying to get the floppy drive to work so that I can load the SATA drivers so that the windows CD can repair my OS.

I had a look in the BIOS but could not find a SATA enable section on it. it should be in the integrate peripheals section but no option for this mobo exists. (not sure which BIOS update I have, around mid 2006 at the latest)

when i installed windows on this ages ago, I had to load the SATA drivers via floppy drive then install windows CD.

I check the BIOS guide from
