Apologies if this is a pretty obvious question, I'm pretty new to this.

I recently bought a load of new PC in bits to have a go at building one myself for the first time.

I noticed the RAM was only running at 800mhz not 1066mhz which I had bought. I inquired in store and apparently it needs to be overclocked to 1066mhz, and all RAM runs at 800mhz by default.

How do I go about doing this, do I need to download a different bios? What is the procedure for updating the bios if necessary, and what settings do I need to tweak?

Thanks in advance...

Hardware is: Motherboard: DFI Infinity 975x Soc. 775, RAM: OCZ 2GB PC2-8500 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2

The 975x chipset has issues running memory over 1000mhz. I don't know how close you'll get.

Change the System Memory Frequency option in the DRAM Timing and Config menu to see if it'll go higher.

You'll likely need to up your FSB to over 350mhz to get the memory running at 1066mhz.

Three times the FSB is the usual limit for memory dividers.
