I would like to have a realistic view from you, for a pc system with AM4 at 1440p (no curved screen, but with a good refresh rate); all parts are needed including case (zero plans to overclock). My health has gotten to the point where I play games that are not "real time" gaming (other than War Thunder, every so often). With my tremors being the main problem (left hand pretty bad while my right is ok), it is causing increasing problems for gaming and I need to make some real changes, so any help would be nice. The idea is to buy a used gpu from the members market (hopefully never over clocked and looking at a 12gb(?)), with everything else being new (Cost to be kept to £600 max).

Current pc for gaming (example of games to include Stellaris, Smalland, War Thunder etc) and some work is:

(Will continue using this as well)
B450 TOMAHAWK MAX
Ryzen 5 3600
Ram 32gb
Storage SSD's ~4TB
Asus DUAL-GTX1060-6G
Monitor 1080p

TY

What do you need help with exactly? Is it just to upgrade what you have for 1440p?

If so, all you need is a graphics card.

For £600 for a new build, with everything needed, you're going to struggle to beat what you have already, mainly due to the high RAM/SSD prices.

What power supply are you running exactly?

Regardless, a 9060XT or 5060TI (16gb variants) should run fine if a 1060 does unless it's already very borderline. You could also consider a 5500X3D (can be had for around £150) which would be healthy uplift from your current CPU and run just fine in your current motherboard, especially in something like Stellaris or the other Paradox 4X style titles as they very much like the extra L3 of the X3D chips last I checked.

You could also consider a second hand GPU from the MM, picking up a 4070 for around/under £300 isn't a big stretch and would save you a few bob.

Not sure if you have seen this, but just had a quick search for something to try and help mitigate the tremors. Could try this out: https://www.steadymouse.com/ however it seems it's not free, and has a $43 price for current version :(

TY, saved the link and will look later (going to need it down the road).

My left hand has the worst tremors; I do use the mouse with my right hand and the tremors there are very little (knock on wood; I am right handed).

It seems that when I am stressed (in game), my left hand just starts having a life of its own, so I wedge it between the keyboard and something else when trying to use the keyboard when playing games.

I need to get back to you on this (have to find somebody to look at it); I think it's a corsair 850, but not 100% sure right now.

Thanks for the suggestions for cpu and gpu.

TY for any help and I am sorry for the way I am switching things around so much :( ..

You're welcome, that's what we're here for!

Absolutely no need to be sorry for anything.

You could kick things off in the members market, post a wanted thread for CPU/GPU and can see if people reply and what they have available.

Really sorry to hear about the tremors, mate. Adapting the setup is definitely the right way to go to keep the hobby enjoyable.

Looking at your current specs, you’ve actually got a great AM4 foundation already with that B450 Tomahawk Max. Instead of a full new build, I’d suggest a targeted upgrade to get the most out of your £600:

  • CPU: Flash your BIOS and drop in a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. For games like Stellaris, that 3D V-Cache is an absolute game-changer.
  • GPU: From the Members Market, look for an RTX 3060 Ti or an RX 6700 XT (12GB). Both will handle 1440p comfortably for your titles.
  • Monitor: Since you don't need a new mobo or RAM, spend the savings on a solid 27" 1440p IPS flat panel (something like the LG GP850 or a Dell equivalent).
This way, you get a much higher-tier experience than buying a completely new budget system from scratch. Hope this helps with the tremors and makes gaming a bit easier on the hands!

TY.

The tremors are a royal bit..... , but it's just something life throws at you, so you just deal with it and move on.

It wouldn't know because it's a chatgpt bot (hence the insta-permaban)
Eh?

ok, I got it..

I may be old and a bit on the slow side these days understanding anything, but I eventually get it (most of the time).

:(
