Hi

I have a ford focus (54 plate) Zetec. It came with Bluetooth hands free radio (6000 CD) fitted.
With this I was able to pair up my phone (T mobile MDA vario 2) to the radio and use it hands free

However about a month back for no reason I can determine the thing has stopped working…

It used to sync up within a min or so of driving - if you pressed the phone button on the radio, the name of my phone would appear on the radio display showing it had synced ok, if it hadn't synced it would say "phone unavailable" until it did sync.

Now however all it says is "Mute" when I press the phone button on the radio, even after hours of driving. Calls made and received now come direct to the phone not via the car radio.
I deleted the Bluetooth pairing on my mobile and tried to resync but it couldn’t find the "Ford Audio" which it used to see.
Tried a friends mobile and that didn’t see it also. I know the Bluetooth is ok on my mobile as I use it ok for other devices.

I took it to the local Ford garage to see what they could tell me - the engineer couldn’t see it on his mobile either and said the head unit (Radio) could have lost its settings and would need sending back to Ford for checking (minimum £150, possibly as high as £400 to fix!)

Now call me a skinflint but I don’t fancy forking that out, does anyone have any ideas or other things I could check out on my own to try and fix this?

Thanks, Neill

You could try depressing the power button for 15 seconds, this may do a full reboot of the system. Or, I think the control box for it is behind the glove box, made by nokia, you could try unplugging it and reconnect.

Yes I know I have suggested two ways of switching off and switching back on again but it sometimes works. It could have course be broken.

Hi

Thanks for the tips, just had a look...

The power button - held this down for 15-20 seconds (while car was running), at the start of this process the radio turned off (clock stayed on all the time (right hand side of the display)) at no point did anything else happen.
Turned it back on after this - (tried a bluetooth resync) no change to original problem

Had a look in the glove compartment, cannot see anything inside this to unplug - or do I need to somehow get behind this to access the Nokia part? I will try this later if I have the correct tools to do it

as you say, it could however be borked!

Thanks, Neill

Sorry to dredge up this thread, but before your problem (did you ever solve it?) how did you pair your phone to the 6000 cd in the first place? Just got a fiesta zetec freedom with the same radio/bluetooth but no mention in the paper work about how to pair them. All my attempts so far have resulted in a pairing failed message on the radio (though my phone can see the radio).
