Help - friend can't get display in windows

Hi,

A friend of mine has just come to her machine and cannot get a display in windows. When she boots into windows she recieves the following message on a black screen, blue message box:

"Not optimium mode, recommended mode 1280*1024 - 60 hertz?"

Does anyone know what we can do to fix this?

Boot into safe mode and uninstall or reconfigure the graphics drivers?

if the monitor is a samsung sync master its a known problem and providing the monitor is still in warrenty will normally replace it using there online rma service.

I think its out of warranty but I see the 710 has a known problem as a lot of people have reported this.

Great, had the monitor been changed? Usually plugging in a different one will force defaults but not always...
