I got a gainward GTX295 and noticed theres a pciexpress power connector and then another 8 pin one. my corsair 620hx has no such power connector and the gtx manual seems to suggest there is some sort of power splitter that plugs into the card and then a normal power connector off the psu. However no such power splitter cable came in the box.

my psu also has 2x pcie power connectors and one of them will fit on the right hand side of the 8 pin connector on the card, leaving the left 2 holes empty but this did not work either. all i get when i turn it on s a long beep and 3 shorter beeps from the mb, and no display at all.

should there have been some sort of power splitter connector cable in the box? there is space for something like that in the polystyrene cutout so i think it may be missing but the manual is not clear about whether it needs it or should have it, or not, and neither the box or manual gives an included parts list.

the point is, should this not have come in the box, the disgram shows a picture of a power splitter, 1x 8 pin that goes into the card going to 2x standard 4 pin psu power connectors but it does not say for sure whether it comes or not. as i said there is a spare section in the polystyrene where this cable looks like it should go.

can someone that knows for sure, or someone with a gainward gtx 925 confirm if this cable came with it or not?

i find it hard to believe it does not come with everything required to use it in the box, i suspect the cable is just missing.

when i had a gainwood GTX 280 i had a 8 pin adaptor included so i would say yes you should have got one.
However for the sake of a few pound you can buy one from here and your shinny new gfx card will be up and running.

it wont though, theres a postal strike until friday in london (which has caused me no end of problems for other things and they all need YOU WERE WARNED, NO SWEARING, ACCOUNT SUSPENDED sacking!). unless its sent by courier (which i doubt ocuk would do for a tiny £3 item) im looking at monday at the very earliest.

would a pcie 2.0 card work in a pcie 1.0 board such as an asus commando? or do they just not work at all unless its a new pci2.0 board?

the cable you are after is probably available from more than just ocuk, ok the cable should have come with the card but just nip down to an shop in london and have it up and running tomorrow :D

Do you live anywhere near Tottenham Court Road:confused:

I know your not allowed to mention other shops names but that one is the YOUR ALSO NOT ALLOWED TO HINT AT COMPETITORS EITHER!!!;)

Ah comon give the guy a break he only wants to get his new gfx card up and running which he just spent a small fortune on with ocuk, maybe he wouldn't have got so angry if his card had come with said cable adaptor, he already said he cant get if from you coz of the postal strike. I was just trying to help the poor fellow as I have been in a very simular situation when ock once sent me all the bits i needed for a complete build on a friday minus the cpu cooler:rolleyes:
