upgraded from a winfast 8800gts to a 1gb gigabyte 560ti (oc i think as it runs at 900mhz) and trying to track down the source of noisyness in my case when i noticed the idle fan level/speed is faster than what it was.

not sure what the fan rpm was but on the 560 its hovering around 1800rpm but the real kicker was when i tried to load up MSI afterburner to lower the fan speed to see if it really was the gfx making the noise..

i couldn't lower it lower than 40% whereas i was able to do 30% on the 8800gts on idle/windows. i looked at the "nvidia bios editor" but it doesn't make sense to me and i don't want to mess up my new card by messing up the flash!

i tried loading it up into win7 pro x64, ran as admin and if i try to select read bios i get a "cant start driver 1275" error. :/

i found this bios on their site which seems to be for my card: http://www.mvktech.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,0/func,fileinfo/id,3549/ but is the rev 4 just the latest one or is it referring to different revisions of the card?

edit: tried to save the bios using GPU-Z then renamed the file to .rom, loaded it up but the integrity is red coloured and a lot of the fields don't have values in them, using mine or the downloaded file.

Silly graphics card manufacturers and their stupid idle fan speed lockouts. Had the same problem with my HD6950 that idled at some stupid speed. I could have used the dual BIOS switch but instead I just swapped the cooler for a good aftermarket cooler.

Not sure if I'd want to flash a card's BIOS without knowing exactly if the BIOS was correct and that any fiddling I was doing was going to work.
