Hi all,

I've just built my new PC, everything was going smoothly until today, I have bought a new keyboard and mouse to go with the new set up, but I'm thinking it's probably a coninsidence.

I think I may have an electricity leak somewhere, my legs feel fizzy and achey and my PC is doing odd things, the sound has cut out.... intermittantly, the mouse and key board shift on and off and it varies depending on which port I'm using, front or back, then reset. And when I switch it off it reboots the first time then switches off the 2nd time.

Hmm... arms are knumb and heavy... gotta step away from the PC...

Is there any way I can find out where the problem is?

Thanks! <powering off for now, will check back intermitantly!>

Kit: Abit P35 Pro with Q6600 + Artic Pro 7
4gb Corsair DDR2 6400
Asus lightscribe DVD
and a Samsung F1 750gb drive, two of my existing 150GB drives (WD)
Corsair HX520
And the OC 8800GTS

New Keyboard and mouse set: Logitec DiNovo Edge and MX Revolution

ok, smart move, allways the simplest.

OK, sound is back... so, does the mean the Blue Tooth transmitters are shorting out the back panel? or that there isn't enough power going to the ports to power two transmiters plus a printer? and Ipod dock...? Is there a way to track where the power is going to?

Are the blue tooth devices powered by USB? Or via an external power source? Same with the Ipod dock etc...?

I'm not sure how to trace the power as such, but if someone else knows I'm sure they'll lend a hand.

**Oh yeah, I presume you brought the keyboard and mouse separately ? As in not in one package...? If so, try one of them by themselves perhaps.

The bluetooth transmitters are just little dongles power by the USB port, as is the ipod dock.

Keyboard and mouse were seperate, however, now the computer wont boot past the 'press tab to show (something?) or Del to enter set up' screen and it wont enter set up, just non-responsive.
The other thing it stated doing was when I powerd up it would power up, the fans would sound then a single beep, it powers down, then it launches fully. I've read that some set ups will send power to the fans before it powers up fully?
At work now, considering taking it apart and putting it back together one component at a time to see what happens?

Radiation leak? I heard the Q6600 was good, but didn't realise it was nuclear... will send it back.

;)

Did you build the computer yourself? If you did, you didnt screw the motherboard straight onto the case, you screwed it to the raisers yeah? Its a long shot but the USB might just be touching the case and shorting it when its plugged in...

Harrharrharrharr!!! Thanks for that picture, I needed cheering up today!

It is a self build, the MoBo is on risers but that's a very good point about the USB, I'll check them first when I get home.

XX Please let it be that simple XX
