HELP! gtx 670 sli FAIL

Reference the overclockers app. Just download Chrome (or any other browser) and view the forum/shop using that rather than using the app.

You can use your phones own internet browser, i just like all my bookmarks to follow me :) I should probably quote the person rather than assume people know who/what i was talking about, downloading chrome to fix a broken screw is pretty strange advice :D

The OC app is perfect for mobile browsing, no pics load, just links and is much faster than browsing via the phone/tablet browser with less data use.

Enjoying the Vino

Don't drink myself-though the missus drinks for me, however stuffing my face with proper food though from various cousins resturaunts... and more icecream than you can fit into kaps uber case! :D

Enjoying the totally renovated top to bottom cassa di Piegaio too.:)

Tiranti della buona notte.

you could try carefully* cutting a straight line into the screw with a hacksaw and using a flat head screwdriver to get it out

*i seriously mean carefully, last thing you want is to hit the board/components with the hacksaw

Thanks for all the input guys and dolls, I have the card back in my machine and working again. Still couldn't get the screw out, but I managed my main objective of cleaning out the hsf and getting some mx-4 on there.

Installing chrome really helped :D

thanks again!

Are some screws on gpu coolers not held in with adhesives too theese days?
@the op, least you got it sorted. Has using mx4 made much difference to temps?

Yeah it's appeared to have knocked about 5 deg off load temps. Haven't tested temps in SLI yet tho, And I have hardly put it through any serious testing. about half an hour on far cry 3 and thats about it. It's been too nice to stay inside! beer and wimbledon in the garden today... I'm only in it for the beer though :P

Nice drop, in sli your top card will run a bit higher, but thats perfectly normal. Your board has a similair layout to mine so spacing is pretty good. With yours being reference models, you wont have to worry about heat being dumped into the case.

Exactly why I went with the reference models :D

Gotta say, the heatsink is tiny. I knew it was pretty limp, after seeing pictures and whatnot online, but to actually see it fit in the palm of my hand really hammered home how small it was. And how little heat Keplar must produce. there's no heatpipes or anything. Just a copper plate and some bog standard grey fins.

Tbh i was wary of adding a second wf but so far temps havent been a problem. Hitting 71c and 59c in games with a 1-1 fan profile.

On it's own the top card never went above 60c at stock, oc'd to +130/+770 it maxed at 67c on auto fan. It isnt helped by my case having virtually no front air intake. But as theyre non ref cards i expected temps to be a lot higher, but as they are im more than happy tbh. I could maybe lower them a bit by adding a side fan to the case.

Depending on your cpu cooling, I'd try making your front fan an exhaust and the top a pair of intakes, and a side fan too if you have the space. configure them with speedfan to spin up and down along with gpu temp and your laughing.

This is what i would have done and then made sure that there was no filings/swarf left afterwards. It could be that that particular screw has some thread lock on it to prevent tampering. Trying to remove it without the correct size screwdriver results in exactly what you have done and a voided warranty.

On a side note, you seriously need to reduce your siggy size before a mod spots it. I believe we are only allowed 4 lines of text.

Reading the OP was going to suggest the superglue in the screw hole trick however seems I was beaten to it. Good to hear you got it sorted.

if you are careful enough, you can make an horizontal(or vertical) gap on the head of the screw with a metal hand saw and try to use a big screwdriver to remove it.
