hi guys,

first time posting so be gentle :P

Anyhow, I recently bought an MSI p67a-G45 mainboard, 2x4gb gskills ripjawsx 1600mhz RAM and an I5 2500k processor from ocuk but im having a strange problem.
Intermittently my computer "stutters", an example of this is i turn my computer on, and every now and again when it gets to windows i move the mouse across the screen and it "jumps" every few seconds for anything between 1 minute and 5 minutes.
if im playing music or movies it also skips and the sound glitches while this occurs.

I've tried running the processor at stock as well as vrious OC (not taking the voltage over 1.35)
ive tried running the ram at stock as well as OC
iver tried a new video card.

This has only occurred since i got the new hardware (chip, board and ram) and im stumped as to which could be at fault
the system passes memtest and prime95 / intel burn in test
also no faults found with my hard drive
ive tried diabling the onboard sound and running it through the hdmi and still the problem occurs
ive also completely reinsta;;ed windows.
also flashed the mainboard

The rest of my hardware is a generic 750w PSU i got from ********, geforce 550ti, maxtor 300gb sata hdd

basically im stumped for checking this now without taking it to a shop or buying parts then sending them back and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dom,

Thanks for the response, have tried the rebuild and recently removed the fan and got rid of the thermal paste it came with and added some arctic silver (just in case)
I rang overclockers tech support on the weekend and the guy I spoke to said that because I hadnt bought the items as a bundle I would need to take it to a shop and have the issue identified before sending whichever item was faulty back.
Safe to say this really annoyed as I shouldnt have to spend money when its an item they have sent me thats causing the issue!

anyways if someone has experienced this before i'd really appreciate the input as to what could be a possible cause.

hmmm wierdly i uninstalled my graphics card drivers and the system has become more stable.... the other grpahics card i tried was another palit geforce 550ti so im wondering if these cards are shafted?! ah well ATI 6950 on the way so will know tomorrow!

Thanks for the replies guys, went and bought another 700w but still did the same thing, rebuilt the machine from scratch and re-installed windows 7 64bit, leaving out my wifi pci card, the 2nd hdd, the cdrom. Had everything fully up to date, the old hdd worked absolutely perfect on my q6600 and really don't think its anything to do with that but tested it with maxtor tests anyway and all were 100%, tried it in the SATA 2 and SATA 3 ports just in case though.
In the end even when the glitches were occurring I could still run prime95 and intel burn test ok which makes me think its most likely not the chip, and the ram passed memtest for 24 hours.
The only thing I had left to consider was the mobo itself so returned it and just awaiting replacement, if it comes back and does the same thing again I'm gonna shoot someone >.<
I think i spent far too much time trying to diagnose the issue myself (I work in IT so its a force of habit :P ) and should have just sent the whole lot back to be checked, i know for next time!
