Happy new year to all.
Hi, I'm having a problem with my pc & I'm hoping someone on here can help.
I've got a q6600, asus p5k, 2gb of ram (dont know the make), gainward 280gtx (B grade from OCUK), 600w ocz psu, creative X-FI Xtreme audio sound card in an antec 900 running windows XP 32 bit SP3, everything at stock.
The problem is youtube wont work, video's start but freeze after 2 seconds & I get no audio, also I now cant play games pc starts loading game then freezes.
The problems started fews weeks back shortly after I upgraded my graphics card from a powercolor 4850 to the gainward 280gtx. Everything was fine at first then I started having the problems with youtube, now games wont start & youtube never works.
I've used driver sweeper to remove ati files, I'm using latest nvidia 180.48 drivers, deleted & reinstalled soundcard drivers & updated adobe to the latest version but still no luck, I've ran out of ideas so any help appreciated, thanx.

Hvae you tried reinstalling the operating system??

In the past after changing from an ati to nvidia card, things started playing up!!

No have'nt tried reinstalling the OS yet, this is my first PC since I had a commodore 64 when I was younger so a little apprehensive of doing a full reinstall.
Tried different drivers for the soundcard but only used 180.48 for grx card.
When I first swapped over everything was fine, then it started developing the fault intermittently but now its all the time.
I'll try downloading older nvidia drivers & trying them, thanx.
I'll post back later.

Hi, I'm running Kaspersky internet security 2009, I've done a full scan & it came back with a green light & said my PC is protected.
Checked in device manager & both gfx card & sound card appear to be working ok both, but the IEEE 1394 Bus host controller is'nt working.
Its a VIA OHCI compiant IEEE 1394 Host controller on PCI Bus 5, device 3, Function 0, that is'nt working.
Checked in motherboard manual & its a 6-pin port for providing high-speed connectivity for audio/video devices, storage peripherals, PC's, or portable devices. Tried updating it to get it working but it could'nt, disabled it then re-enabled it & it worked but as soon as I shut PC down then restarted it was'nt working again. Could this be the reason for my problems?

Have you got a larger psu to try? You should be alright with 600W but it sounds a bit like not enough power after upgrading your graphics card. Only other thing I can think of is, what are your temperatures like? Not that I can see a youtube video causing your GTX280 to burn up unless it's got a heatsink seating problem or something similar, but might as well try everything!

Have'nt got a larger psu to try.
I've got cpu-z & gpu-z installed, cpu temps were approx 25 degrees on desktop & gpu were around 35, I've got an antec 900 case with all four fans on high plus my pc is in the loft which is coldest room in the house. I ran the crysis demo bout a dozen times when I first installed 280gtx & highest it got was around 65 degrees.

the youtube thing is a fault with your flash version the games issue sounds driver related...

Hi, I was using adobe version 9 but when I had problems I updated to 10 but it didnt help. Using nvidia 180.48 & I've tried the previous version with no luck.
