HELP!! Having problems with the nVidia 182.08 drivers!

I've got them installed on my PC and they work fine with the onboard nVidia 7100 graphics but as soon as I install my 6800 Ultra graphics card the system will hang at the desktop once booted.

I've tried uninstalling the driver for the 7100 first, rebooting and then installing the 6800 Ultra driver but after it restarts to complete the installation it will hang and I have to hard reset the computer but then it will hang again as soon as it restarts.

I should also mention that it doesn't hang if I boot it without the drivers installed and just let XP use it's universal driver.

It's an Asus P5N73-CM board and a PCI-E Asus 6800 Ultra card.

Any ideas?

If using older graphics cards I find that using the very latest drivers can sometimes cause problems. Try using a set of drivers that are more aimed at that series of cards?

Cheers, where's the best place to download older drivers as I can't seem to find them on the nVidia site?

Have you tried disabling the onboard gfx first.

Yeah I've set it to use PCI-E as the primary graphics adaptor in the BIOS, is this correct?

Cheers,
Steve

Yes, but if the BIOS has an option actually slaughter the onboard VGA as well, use that. Might be a matter of setting "addign IRQ to onobard VGA" to off.

Had a really fun thing recently, bult a machine for a mate out of some of my junk, including an 8800GTS, which worked until in a moment of blindness I let the motherboard CD install the drivers for the ONBOARD 6200.......oh boy....BOOOOOOOOOM, 4 colour desktop that wouldn't change. Took some serious wriggling to fix it.

I think I've sorted it now (touch wood).

After a bit of reading I found out that you have to uninstall nTune before uninstalling the on-board graphics drivers. I did this then installed the drivers for the 6800 Ultra and all is well.

Furthermore, I've installed RivaTuner rather than nTune now as it's meant to be much more stable (you'd think nVidia's own software would work together wouldn't you!?!?)

Cheers,
Steve
