Ok, so I've just reinstalled Homeworld 2 on my new PC, but for some wierd reason, it gets really slow in places. I'm on the first level, and it seems to go smoothly when I'm looking at the mothership and the one harvester thingy, but whenever I want to look at the 3 other ships in the level, it gets really slow... like less than 10fps from the looks of it.

I don't get it - here are my specs:

Asus P5W DH Deluxe (975x)
Core 2 Duo 6600
2GB DDR2 RAM
Nvidia 7900GS gfx card
320Gb SATA hard drive (heaps of space left)
EDIT: forgot to mention, I'm using Windows XP Pro

Any help is appreciated :)

I had some sort of the same problem a while ago but it was only on that mission where your being attacked by lots of enemy fighters and you have to wait a certain amount of time.

It was fine from the start, then I saved it and figured i'd come back to it later and quit.

The next time I loaded my game, it was really really slow, way I fixed it was to restart the level from the beginning. Not by the "mission start" saved game, actually loading the level previous and doing that one again as even loading the beginning of the level still went slow after a while.

My system specs at that time I think were:

AMD athlon 64 3000+
7800gtx
2gb ram
asus a8n sli

I'm not entirely sure this will help you in any way as it only did it on that level for me and maybe one more later on. I realise your on the first level but did you save a load game on that level or just start there anyway, if you just started there I'd have no idea.

This happened to me a few times - I remember reading something about clearing the cache in the homeworld directory. Also seemed to have to switch the affinity to single core on my e6300.

Well I found it was happening on any level I played. Just found out I had to turn v-sync on and that was it sorted.

Just to clarify, it would get really slow whenever I would want to look at a ship (but not in some cases, like the first level) - in particular, zooming and rotating would either become extremely slow or just wouldn't happen.
