My Windows XP refused to boot up, so installed a window XP on another disk and can now access the old hard disk. How can I extract the outlook files from the defunct windows and reinstall them on the new clean fresh windows installation. :D

They'll be located in C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GUID}\Microsoft\Outlook Express, you should be able to just copy the files across to the new machines OE store folder (same place) and open OE to have it pick up all your emails.

That's the default location, if you've moved it you'll need to look at the location where you moved it to.

Ok thanks didn't realise I couldn't just search for inbox.dbx no idea why that won't work :(

and you have to make sure hidden files are shown, otherwise worryingly identities isn't shown !

Just thought I'd type this out to help someone else as it will probably appear in a google search !! :)

Don't forget to back up the rest too in case you wish to use the import function in OE.
