Hi all and seasons's greetings

I have just bought a Samsung n310 netbook :D and was wondering what would be a good anti-virus to use on it?

Many thanks

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. They hog resources (and they really really do) and netbooks aren't exactly powerhouses.

However, if you absolutely feel the need, then one of the free ones, Avast, AVG Free or the new one provided by MS for free (my preference as it seems to hog a few less resources), Microsoft Security Essentials.

Whatever you do, please don't pay your good money for one.

Thanks for the advice.

I might give the microsoft one a go ;)

I will stick some more memory in it in the new year to help.I was going to buy a compaq mini note 110c but the etailer ( not ocuk ) dropped the price of the n310 to £221 :D.So i thought i would try the n310 instead. It must be a decent netbook because OCUK sell them ;)

I use a paid-for solution, nod32.com. It is very unobtrusive and updates quickly, seems to do a good job.

I also use mailwasher.net to pre-filter my mail, makes taking out spam easier.

Well at the mo i'am using norton 2010 on my desktop.
I like the fact it just sits in the background the one thing i hate about some AV software is constant popups. That is why i could not live with comodo.
Do nod32 still do a trial?

Norton would be my least favourite, in the past I've found it to bog computers down, NOD32 have a free trial:
