Is there a fault with my card???

I have an nvidia GT7800.

My normal display is at the resolution of 1600 X 1200 but recently when I boot my pc this has been lost and comes on with 1024 X 768. If I check the nvidia control panel it says that this and 800 X 600 are the only 2 resolutions available.
If I check the device manager it says all is working normally. However if I disable the display adapter and then re enable the pc goes back to my default resolution (1600 X 1200) and I get the full list of resolutions to chose from.
I have reloaded the drivers, unplugged and cleaned the gfx card. I cannot work out why this is happening. Also it doesn't happen all the time just randomly but seems more and more frequent as time goes by. Do I need a new pc or card?

Mobo - DFI Lan Party NF4
Ram - 4Gb Corsair platinum DDr400
CPU - AMD FX60 dual core running at 2.61Ghz
PSU - Thermaltake 500W
GFX - Nvidia GT7800

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
