This is SO embarrassing - especially for how long I have been doing stuff like this. :(

I upgraded the bios on my system last night. Why? Dunno, just felt like it as I was doing lots of other stuff.
However I forgot to stop the cmos being refreshed.

Yep, I have lost my sodding profiles.

Does anyone have the 4ghz overclock profile for this;

*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz @ 4.00GHz Max / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle
4.00GHz Overclock

I have phoned OC, but they don't have one for this board anymore and they suggested I post in here.

Thanks

Mike

Under Advanced CPU settings:
C3/C6/C7 State support Disabled
Everything else is enabled.

I'm just on my way out to work now, so I'll check back later if you are still stuck.

Tried your figures, thanks [and messed around with voltage on cpu and memory, but it would not boot into windows.

@OLDPHART.

Many thanks from an old git. Booted first time into W7.

I havn't stressed it yet, but the boot was soo promising.

Thanks all.

BUGGER!

Well it lasted 4 hours - I was just going to look at F1 on beeb sports page and the pc just quit.

Restarted itself, got the W7 logo screen up and thats as far as it has gone since.

I can get into "safe" mode without networking and not with networking.
I cant really do anything in safe mode. Not even install the drivers for the new GFX card [as msi software starts to check system pc quits]
This last was on my backup disc that I put in in case the others W7 had been corrupted.

SO FAR I HAVE;

Swapped the memory around in case of memory damage on one of the pieces.
Swapped HDs out.

Gone back to "safe" defaults on BIOS as well as "turbo" defaults [2.86].

Every time it quits when loading W7.

So CPU or board gone?

DOn't have a spare board to try chip nor spare chip to try board.

BUGGER AND DAMMIT!

Currently running memtest 68+, also got ultimate boot cd and will be doing prime.

**I noticed on your settings that you have the CR on the Memory set to 2, but set to 1 on the advanced memory. **** if I do that the mem gets set to the advanced's 1....

Yep, done the cmos [and removed the battery... :>}]

I shall get the intelburntest in a mo.
**I assume it can run in DOS?** [as I don't have windows.....]
**** downloaded. - It needs win. will ty it in safe mode and see if it will work......*****

Just concerned that it ran for 4 hours fine and now ..... NOWT!

Do you know what the "safe" level to put vcore up to?

Thanks, BTW, for your help on this.

Prime on the so-called UBD does not work [nor does a few others either]

Memory OK.

So it seems either the cpu or the MB are fragged.

I'm 90% sure I have it, because I did the same thing ages ago and lost my profile, so I got OC to email me a new one.

However, I couldn't ever get it to work (not sure if it's because I have a dodgy cpu or if the bios update broke it). I'll have a look for you when I get home.

Hiya,

Did you find your version btw?

OFC as its probably the cpu thats stuffed, I won't need it yet..... :(

I was adviced by the OCUK tech's not to go over 1.35 core volts, to keep temps down and for CPU life, no boot into desktop and run IBT.

How did you update your BIOS? Over the net using @BIOS or manually using Q-Flash, never update Bios over the net, to much to go wrong.

The only thing that went wrong on the bios was me....

I just forgot to NOT clear the CMOS.

Can't get desktop. Starts to load windows, clicks and starts to reboot.
