Current system:
Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe board
Opteron 144@ 2.69Ghz
2Gb Geil DDR 400
X1900XT 256Mb
160Gb Maxtor Sata hard disk
250Gb Seagate Sata II hard disk
Problem is - while rebuilding windows on the Maxtor hard disk, it kept failing to recognise boot sector (seemingly) and since then the board refuses to even display a 'post' screen and the fan on the X1900 spins at full speed, which it normally does only for a second or two.
Is my board dead? Any suggestions other than leaving power off it and resetting CMOS as advised in the manual?
As for replacement.... I would order a DFI crossfire board from OCUK, except it doesnt support SATA II - so thats no use.
Been looking at getting a Foxconn (Winfast) NF4SK8AA-8EKRS - nforce 4 chipset with SATA II support - anyone got one of these, and if so what do you think of it?
Dont really want to splash out fully on C2D system yet, so going to use this as stop-gap for 6-9 months or so ideally.
