Help ID creature found in garden

Hoping you guys can help ID these two chaps I came across whilst gardening. They won't too active, just chilling out under some wood until I turned up.

Not newts but the common British lizard.

We used to get lots of these at my parents house as well as slow worms.

I would have said that's a newt.

Hard to tell from a picture. The skin texture is the main way to tell, newts are sort of 'warty' and smooth, while lizards have scales. Lizards are also pretty fast movers and newts ain't.

Going against the Common Newt and Smooth Newt suggestions, i'd put money on it being a Palmate Newt!
