ok specs first

AMD X2 4800+ -2gb ddr 400 -7800GTX DFI NF4 Expert mobo 600w psu.
No overclocking and temps all nice and cool.

Recently upgraded to this processor from a 3700SD. I didnt reinstall XP just a straight chips swap and installed the AMD dual core optimizer software as advised.

Now Ever so often, some days multiple times in a row, The game i am playing the screen locks up (EDIT infact i really only play 2 games HL2 mods and EQ2--- it only ever happens in EQ2! core swapping maybe?) , then the sound will begin to loop, about 5 seconds later i can move the pointer, then it gos back to loop, for another 20 seconds. Then my Monitor will turn itself off, power down whatever, say no signal. then 10 seconds later it blinks back into life with a highly corrupted picture. Either grey scaling or what seems to be a 100% random "splurge of colour"

Once or twice i have had the BSOD refering to NV4_DISP.DLL (gfx drivers) so i have tried pretty much everysingle new driver.

Obviously as its only started after the x2 went in im now assuming its casuing the problem?!

im starting to get sick of it. Tried new mobo drivers, gfx card. Not tried a bios flash but soon becoming last option....

What do you think...?

hELPS!
