Hi.

My Friend has just built a gaming rig and when i monitored his temps using HWmonitor i noticed the temps are acting strange. its siting between 50-60c at idle and when gaming lets say on bf4 it will drop to 28c, i have tried re-seating the cpu with new thermal paste and that didnt really do anything. he is running it on a ga-f2a88xm-hd3 mobo and a R9 270 GPU. anyone got any ideas?

Cheers guys

yeah i have tried several different monitoring software i get the same reading on everyone i have tried so far, i am now going to install my artic cooling freezer too it and see what happens,

Is there any chance you are looking at the value that is Tcore Relative to the Thermal Cutoff? That would explain the inverse temperature values shown.

i am taking the reading from the peak temps on HW monitor and AMD overdrive software. my arctic cooler didnt make a difference either so i think its a faulty sensor or software issues

resurecting this one.

after the place of purchase has had the CPU for 2 weeks for "extensive testing" they can find no fault!!!??? it is still idleing between 50-60 and drops when gaming?

any ideas
