Wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I have never overclocked anything before so if someone was willing to help me that would be amazing.

I have heard the E8400 is a great overclocker. However i'm not sure that my motherboard and cpu cooler are suitable for it?

Looking at my purchase order i have the
Asus P5Q P45 Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
and my cooler is
Asus Silent Knight AL Socket 775 / AM2 / 754 / 939 / 940 Pure Aluminium Processor Cooler

So firstly. Is my system OK to overclock?

secondly, can anyone give me or link me a guide that's easy to understand on how to do it?

Any help at all will be appreciated

Thanks

Your board is perfect for that chip. When I get a minute I'll walk you through overclocking it if no one else gets to it before me.

just thought i would add that i have a Enermax Liberty 500W PSU. If i want to overclock my CPU and maybe later get a 6870 to replace my 4870 would i have enough power?
