i have made a logo for my cleaning company as i needed something for the time being but now i'm wanting flyers/stickers/car vinyls etc printed and the logo needs to be completed. the first problem is i'm not an arty type person so can only make basic images. i'm hoping someone here will be kind enough to help me out.

basically what i'd like is to have the logo look more like pieces of fruit (orange/lime/lemon) and also resize better so can be used for car vinyls, flyers etc.

unfortunetly when creating the logo i flatened the layers so i could copy it across to another file and then saved the logo as a flat image losing all the layers :( meaning it would have to be recreated so i understand if no one wants to give it a go

i have put the logo i made on our website space here so anyone can download it and give it a go. i can donate some paypal credits if wanted as this will be used for my company, but i'm hoping not too many as the idea/i hope most of the work, is already done; it just needs the finishing touches :)

i'd appreciate any other thoughts on the logo and if people have the time the site: green clean solution

we are putting lots of time into the company so the site is going slower then i hoped it would to finish so some areas not finished and the text isn't proof read yet, just ideas put down etc. we need to change the images to us cleaning and the icons on the home page.

thanks

Don't do logos in photoshop, I would recommend using a vector programme unless things have changed with CS4 which I don't use, from what I understand I never create logos in CS3 PS. Something like illustrator/fireworks.

Regarding the actual logo, I think it's quite good but simple, I mean if you wanted you could use several types of the same logo and colour them differently thats a good place to start, then from there make additions to them such as increasing a segments size and make it look as though its been cut out or something I honestly couldn't say as it's your logo and your design.

Just as a quick one, photoshop logos can indeed be output as vector images even in cs2. Exporting to EPS(encapsulated post script) will give you a calculated graphic which will print awesome, for headed paper, continuation sheets and compliments slips but they will look sketchy on screen.

For digital media (email sigs etc) I find a png works nicely with a clear background as often bmp and jpegs will leave you with a bit of fuzz around the image.

As for the logo and the site, both look good and professionally presented, nice job!

It says the PSD isnt found on the server. I can redraw it in Illustrator for you tonight if you want. Just the circle logo yeh? Won't take long at all to get a printable version.

As for the site, I think it looks fantastic! Great work.

silly me the file is back now. yeah just the circle logo if that's ok. well actually the text would be great if it could be easily resizeable as well. the text is just arail with a duplicate under it in black one pixel down to the right.

I'd appreciate if anyone has the time to try and make it look a bit more like pieces of fruit as i have found people think it's the peace symbol instead, though this is probably something i should do myself when i find time.

thanks for the comments on the site, i think i have looked at it too much as i'm starting to dislike it. some parts were influenced by another site which i have completely forgot so i can't take credit for the full design.

Sorry chap, my evenings have been jam packed and this weekend I am mega busy too. If you add me to MSN and bug me in the evenings I will give it a go for you.

sorry can't add you to for evenings as i work until 10 most nights then still need some grub when i get back.

i had a quick go at using some online converter and it come out nothing like my logo.

Not sure if its quite what you are after. Not a graphic designer, more of a hobbiest and prefer clean / simple designs.

Here is something to start with...

All the best
Nathan

P.S. Website is very very good also IMO. To the point, looks good and expresses what it is you do with most of the fat / unnecessary content trimmed. Great site ;)

fireworks isn't a vector program either, however I agree that Illustrator is best for logos. You have made this logo VERY small for use in print, It needs to be 300 dpi or 150 at the very least and with an illustrated file would be scalable to what ever your needs. As for the actual design, it's simple, which is always a good thing, the use of light, pastel colours will help to get across the light clean feeling. Again I agree with black ops, experiment with variations of similar designs and ask people, always ask people what they think, since they will have no idea what it is or about other than what you tell them. If they don't get it then the logo isnt doing its job.

nates design is a nice alternative to what you have, very nice, clean and simple and gets across the message.

Appreciate the comment but looks like I got the wrong end of the stick to this thread completely :) lol...

Will teach me to skim read threads in the future. I looked upon it that the OP wanted a logo designing. Ah well  silly me...

I can always try and help regards to the "pieces of fruit" logo wanted / needed. Rather than delete my post with the other logo, I will leave it there just in case.

Apologies for getting completely the wrong idea of what was needed. So eager to make an impression on the forum (being a noob and all) that I didn't read through the thread as I should have :D lol

What a pleb

don't feel bad; i really appreciate the attempt even if it wasn't exactly what i was after. the one you made was nice and simple it looked good but unfortunately i already have one, it just needs making into a vector and then if possibly made to look a bit more like pieces of fruit .

Is it set in stone that you have to use that current idea, or are you open to new ideas?

I ask mainly because the current logo concept would need a lot of work to look more like fruit, especially at such a small size, and it could end up being too complex.

A good logo should look the same, no matter what size it's being used at. I don't see a way to do this with your concept, not without making drastic changes to it.

Just my tuppence of course, take with a pinch if you wish :)
