Hi guys,
I've just moved my system into a new Antec P182... it's certainly very quiet, but I'm concerned about airflow!
I am a gamer, so I don't expect a completely silent system, but I also can't stand lots of noise coming from it. I also use my system as a media centre, which is another reason that noise is a concern.
I have tried out 2 different configurations so far...
Config 1: Antec P182 Default (Photo)
With the TriCool fans set to low, it was almost silent, but my CPU was getting quite hot, idling about 47-50c
At the medium setting, the CPU temp was about 42-44c idle. For me the fans were too loud as I could hear them when gaming.
It was quite a hot day when I measured this... but I can't give an exact ambient temp.
Config 2: Top Fan moved to the front (Photo)
With all the TriCool fans set to low, my CPU is idling around 42-43c and it is a very quiet config.
However, for some reason my mobo sensor is now reading at over 50c. I am guessing the air is not circulating well enough.
What would you guys recommend I do with the configuration?
I'm open to changing anything around and also buying a new heatsink and fans if necessary, but I'd rather not make any irreversible changes to the case if possible.
Lastly, here are my system specs:
AMD Athlon X2 4600+
Asus A8N-Sli Premium
2GB Crucial Ram
BFG 8800GTX
Corsair 520w PSU
WD Raptor 74GB in upper chamber with NoVibes
Seagate Barracuda 750GB in lower chamber
Thanks for your help.
