Hi guys,

I used to keep up with the latest trends in the computer world, but of late that isn't the case. Currently I own a 570 Gigabyte OC and would like to upgrade to a 770. Do you all think this card is a good choice? or would I be better going with AMD or another GeForce card. I only use one monitor for my games, at 1920x1080

Quick question, do you think the 780 is a better choice for the money? I can probably scrape enough together to purchase that card but if its not needed or the gain isn't all that I wouldn't trouble myself

This card looks nice and is also Gainward and ive been very happy with my current one

The 570 is still a decent GPU but in truth, I would go for a 780 or a custom cooled 290. Both decent cards and depending if you want PhysX with Nvidia or Mantle With AMD.

As above, the 570 is pretty decent. I would hold out for a 780 if you can, they are pretty awesome cards for the money. A 290 flashed to 290X BIOS would also be a consideration from the 'red' side.

ok guys, thanks for replying and taking the time to advise me. So which is a real good card? which is the best and which is the best for a reasonable amount of cash. im just gonna take a better look at the 780`s, don't really fancy amd, always been NVidia apart from once, I had a 9800pro at one point

Ive actually made a mistake and my card at the moment is infact a gigabyte, I love gigabyte and would like your opinions on this card plz

Will you be overclocking your GPU? If not, the Ghz is probably your best bet performance wise. If you will be overclocking, I'm not sure it's worth the extra £30 over any of the 780s OcUK has for £400. You can't go wrong with any of them, really - get the one that looks best. Or if you will be overclocking but want to spend £430 I'd go for the KFA2 HoF;

Three vendors I like with the best being EVGA (Warranty with who ever owns the card and not the original purchaser and keen for water coolers), Gigabyte (UK RMA, so should be a quick turnaround and the WFX3 is a quality cooler) and MSI, great customer service and quick turn around.

For me, any of those 3 would be my choice :)

KFA2 are known as Galaxy outside the UK. Under KFA2 they have a UK-based warranty/RMA service, which is always nice. The HoF is a hell of a card. As I said, for £430 that's the card I'd get: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/60001-kfa2-geforce-gtx-780-hall-of-fame/?page=12

If you'll only be doing a bit of overclocking you'll be fine with one of the £400 ones. Most will overclock to level of Gigabyte's Ghz Edition without overvolting anyway.

Isnt the KFA2 one slightly slower out of the box than the gigabyte one?

How about this one, this seems the fastest of the lot on paper? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-033-IN&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341

So you wouldn't recommend the inno then over those??? youd go for the galaxy n others would say gigabyte

Of the premium 780s, I'd still go with the HOF, yes. The Inno3D is faster out of the box, but I've got no idea how well it overclocks and I can't find any reviews for it.

To be honest, we're talking pretty small differences in real-world performance here. One of the £400 780s will eat up anything you throw at it at 1080p. With cards like the KFA2 HoF, the EVGA Classified, and MSI's Lightning, you're paying for extra overclocking performance. With Gigabyte's Ghz Edition and the Inno3D DHS you're paying for guaranteed out of the box performance. Whether that is worth the premium over the 'regular' 780s is up to you. I'd say that as you'll be doing a bit of overclocking without worrying about your benchmark score, the £400 ones are best suited. That's what I did, anyway.

Awesome, well im buying on the 1st of January, aslong as nothing is released in the meantime ill choose between the Gigabyte and the KFA2, mayb the Inno. Money isn't a problem and the extra 20 pound doesn't matter. Im planning on buying this case along with it as the one I have may not support these huge cards

Itll fit in one of those right?? nice looking case imo. btw I think my psu is only 450watts at the minute, is that ok for sucha powerful card?

That case will fit them easily. No worries there. You'll certainly need a new PSU, though.

will my psu not run it at all, cud it keep it going for couple weeks or will I need one asa I plug it in. Also what speed will I need, a 600w?

Thanks again for the help

Depends on the the rest of your system and the quality of the PSU, but you certainly wouldn't be overclocking anything at 450w. I don't think I'd try the KFA2 HoF on it at all.

For one of these more power-hungry 780s I'd go for 650w. Something by Seasonic or Superflower. I've got a 650w Seasonic G-Series powering the PC in my sig.

Ive got a i5 760 with 8gb of corsair memory, board is pretty basic. one harddrive. The psu in my case is corsair but it come with a pc build so its bound to be on the cheap side. ill take the side off tomoro and take a look, see the rating and model number if possible. Thanks for your help, you've been awesome
