Help in improving secondary networked rig

Hi all.

My second PC is usually the recipient of anything and everything second hand or unwanted from my main rig. Much like a lot of guys on here I guess.

Only thing is I want to give it a little TLC as it's actually a half decent rig that's been mashed together.

Gigabyte H61M-S2V-B3 mobo
i5 2300 CPU
4GB Corsair DDR3 1333MHZ
Geforce 560ti
250GB Samsung IDE (old)
Corsair Carbide 300R case
OCZ 550W Quiet PSU Bronze rated

It runs fast enough. Mainly due to the lack of programs it runs. However I'd like to maybe get faster RAM without breaking the bank and a new CPU cooler. Anything you guys recommend?

I have a H60 refurb at the moment but there's just about two screws left holding it in place on the radiator. The threads have gone which is very annoying. I was looking at maybe something like a Raijintek Zelos Low Profile CPU Cooler as it's not overclocked and they look quite neat.

I'm happy with the case so that stays.

As for SSD. I currently have an Intel 330 SSD 180GB on my main rig which I want to replace. Perhaps getting a 1TB Samsung Evo then utilitising that for my second one?

Graphics card. Again, I have a 670 in my main which I may upgrade to a 780/970 soon.

I guess you could call these first world problems but I thought this would be the place to ask for a few subtle upgrade ideas.

Many thanks.

Alex.

I would stick with what you have as its a second rig and probably don't get used as much as your main rig.

Get another 4gb ram... 8gb will help the latest games run slightly better

SSD is a must these days

Minus that... it will run games for another year or so... you will be fine

As for the RAM. I was thinking of sticking in the RAM from my main PC and getting another 8Gb of with lower timings.

G Skill Trident is what I've been recommended to run FSX.
