Trying now to install xp on mates pc. Setup goes fine untill 1st reboot. then without me pressing any key, the whole setup just starts again ? Never happend to me b4

It's possible I guess for the bios to be set to only boot to CD or the time out for looking for other sources is set to 0 sec. Just guessing to be honest but I know there are settings you can adjust.

Is it a pukka XP disk or a recovery disk. Generaly when first booted XP disks ask you to press a button to continue and if you don't they boot the first hard drive.

I'd try hitting 'Pause' when the PC reboots and then removing the disk and pressing enter. Hopefully it should start the next part of the installation (it will at some point probably ask you to put the disk back in).

Are you getting any keyboard errors reported by the BIOS?

Sorry, i gave up and we got drunk ! now i am incapable ov spelling. it is a bonus realy cos ill upgrade the * out of it. Ive got better kit in the loft ;)

I will try your fixes, when im get my brain cells bak in the morn.
