Help installing heatsink

Sorry to create a new thread but I figured it would get me an answer quicker than leaving a post in my other thread.

I've got a AMD Phenom II 955 and have installed that on the new mobo. I'm about to stick the heatsink on but it's something I've never done before and I really don't want to **** it up. I've spent an hour watching youtube vid's with various methods of application of thermal compound (I've got some MX-3) and am happy with that part.

The part I'm concerned about is that the heatsink seems to have some sort of thermal compound already applied - the stock stuff I presume. Do I need to remove this or is it okay to go on top of the MX-3 that I'm about to apply to the CPU?

Just done now. Thanks very much.

Now to crack on with the rest of the build, fingers crossed in a couple of hours I'll have the guts of a much more capable PC working.

I've just installed SpeedFan and it shows the following:

Should I be worried? That's when doing not much (downloading some stuff from steam, but nothing intensive.) I have seen temp 2 go up to 50oC.

Airflow isn't great, I didn't have any cable ties so I need to do a bit of cable management later. I'll be buying a side fan as well at some point.

So long as it should be alright left alone whilst I download a few games then I'm happy.
