Hi, earlier today purchased the XFX ATI Radeon HD 4830 from Overclockers.

I was previsously using the on board graphics, after putting the card into my PC it starts to boot up, but gets stuck on the windows loading screen. I have left it for about 10 minutes, the bar keeps moving along as if it is loading but surely there is something wrong? I have also tried safe mode which doesn't load.

I'm back on my on board at the moment, please help :(

Thanks for the reply.
I think so, but how would i go about doing it properly?

You have to go into your bios and disable it there.

I'm guessing you can't run both at the same time, but check your mobo manual to on the safe side.

Ah ok, should it be relatively easy to find in my BIOS? and will it be called on-board graphics ?

Not sure, but it should be fairly obvious. You may have to prioritise one graphics over the other.

As before, RTFM!

Nah, :( It gets past the loading screen now, I chose the option to display the PCI-E first. On the OnChip PCI device it just has things like USB etc.
When its past the loading screen I just get a blank screen, but with a mouse pointer.
Thats as far as it goes.. anymore help? :(

So you don't get any icons on screen at all? or anything come up about 'Found New Hardware'?

Don't want to sound patronising but you have moved the monitor cable over to the new graphics card now? Otherwise it will just pick up the old one still.

Yeah I've moved the monitor cable and nope, no icons or anything, it's just the mouse pointer but is very jerky when moved.

ok but its obviously missing something and if he cant get to windows how can he re install drivers. He said he cant even boot in safe mode.

Hi all, thanks for replies. I still can't get it to work. However, it does load windows, but so so slowly, like over an hour, but after it said windows is starting up, i got a black screen again, so went back to on board again.
It does require a separate power lead and that is plugged in.
