Hi,
I have just recieved a copy of vista home premium and another 2gb of giel ram to take me up to 4gb (iv heard vista is better with 4gb)

I have Backed up all the data i want to keep to my external hard drive so thats safe.

Basically i just want to make sure im going to go about installing vista the correct way and see if anyone has any tips to make the transfer as smooth as possible !

What I was planning on doing is...

1. once all data is backed up, disconnect external hdd.
2. turn off pc
3. install extra 2gb ram
4. start pc and enter bios
5. set that ram setting that enables 4gb to be used (Whats this called !!???)
6. boot pc from vista cd
7. follow instructions for install
8. restart when prompted
9. copy all backed up files across, update drivers, programs etc.

On question i have, should i install the extra ram and enable it in the bios before or after installing vista ??

So, anyone want to correct anything or got any tips ?

Thanks guys
Arge

It should be fine installing with 4gb, but i know some people have had issues with it. It would probably be easier and safer to just install it with 2 gb then sort the other 2 gb after.
