I built a mini itx PC but I can't manage to install W7!

GA H61n d2v http://www.gigabyte.com.pr/products/...px?pid=4214#ov
i3
SSD Intel 330

I have had a look in bios, changed to AHCI, I made a bootable usb with W7 on, I have also put the contents of the motherboard dvd on that usb too.

The OS installation starts, I can see the SSD, I find one driver that is installed but I can't get past that point.

Says
'Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system'

Not sure I have used correct Intel 330 SSD driver, do I need to CMOS reset?

I am stuck there, any pointers appreciated, thanks :)

Hmm I tried the windows download tool, I tried to make an iso, from my W7 disk but I could not use the tool - it didn't recognise the iso I made using image burn (just my luck!)

I don't have a cd-rom attached or a HDD just the ssd I am trying to install, I don't know if I have installed the correct intel driver.

I can try NTFS formatted USB stick, or I could plug the SSD into another pc and format it, not sure I understand what you mean by 'make it active'.

Thanks so far

Downloaded, W7 starts install, ask for SSD driver, put my usb in with what I think is the driver and the usb shows but there is no files visible in it!

I can't get any further

USB Key

I just plugged the ssd into my main pc and formatted it, fingers crossed

Still not sure what the driver is for an intel ssd 330 or should it just plug and play?

Thanks

Lol no I spoke with OC's they said the ssd should just be plug and play, can't figure it out. Just can't get past the W7 set up bit.

But hey thanks for your help so far

Yay I am typing this on the new Mom and Pop machine! I got around the problems by powering a spare dvd drive with my gaming machine and then plugging in its sata cable into the new machines mb! That way I could use my W7 DVD instead of fanny around with 'the usb way'.

With the W7 disk Windows did display the issue and it was something to do with me formatting the disc incorrectly, GPT or MBR and so on. I have no idea what I was doing, it was extremely interesting and frustrating, the opposite of intuitive but here we are.

What can I say I am a proud noob, and thanks for those that posted, it is appreciated.

Thanks Idleman.

MAME whats your favorite arcade game? I like Burgertime, a classic.

Phew!

Thanks, valued your help and I have to say it really encourages you to keep on trying to solve it when you get a reply. Being able to post here and someone taking the time to reply is fantastic.

How would you know you were aiming advice at the 'intelligent ten year old' level. I used command prompt for the first time today and learnt tons. Cheers

Why that almost brought a tear to my eye :p

Yes, it was a happy ending, no doubt I will be back shortly with the next instalment of noob computer building, for now it is back to teeth, familiar territory. There are only a maximum of 32 (there is no 64 version). It's mostly subtraction with a little installation from time to time. No reformating whatsoever, bliss.
